Social Security Break-Even Calculator

Age Cumulative if Claim at 62 Cumulative if Claim at 67 Cumulative if Claim at 70 Best Strategy
How the break-even is calculated:
For two claiming ages A (earlier) and B (later) with monthly benefits bA and bB:
Break-even age = B + (bA × (B − A) × 12) / ((bB − bA) × 12)
This is the age at which the higher monthly payment from waiting makes up for the years of forfeited checks.

IRMAA Surcharge Calculator (2026)

Find out if your income triggers Medicare premium surcharges. IRMAA is based on your tax return from 2 years ago — your 2024 MAGI determines your 2026 premiums.

Important: IRMAA is based on your tax return from 2 years ago. Your 2024 MAGI determines your 2026 premiums. If you've experienced a life-changing event (retirement, divorce, death of spouse), you can file form SSA-44 to request a reduction.

CalPERS WEP Impact Estimator

Estimate how the Windfall Elimination Provision would have affected your Social Security benefit with a CalPERS pension.

Social Security Fairness Act — WEP Eliminated

The Social Security Fairness Act, signed into law January 5, 2025, eliminated the Windfall Elimination Provision (WEP) and Government Pension Offset (GPO). If you have a CalPERS or CalSTRS pension, you may now be eligible for your full Social Security benefit. Contact us for a personalized analysis.

Note: This tool shows what the WEP reduction would have been prior to the Social Security Fairness Act. The 2026 maximum WEP reduction was $587/month. With 30+ years of substantial earnings, WEP did not apply. For 21–29 years, the reduction was proportionally decreased. Because WEP has been eliminated, your actual benefit should be the full amount shown on your SSA statement.
